Driving alone with a baby: would a rear-seat view on your Android head unit help? You're the only adult in the car, your baby is in the back, and you hear a little fussing—or the car suddenly goes quiet. You may want to know whether they're awake, asleep or simply looking around. With nobody beside them to check, that small question can stay on your mind. We're exploring an idea through Built With You, our product co-creation discussions. Our hunch is that using a screen already in the car c

You install GPSTest, open the Status page, and see a long satellite list. It is tempting to call that proof that your head unit has dual-frequency GNSS. Hold off on that conclusion. The detail to look for is frequency: CF (carrier frequency), or labels such as L1 and L5. On the head unit checked here, googleRelease-v3.10.6.apk was selected in the installer and GPSTest opened its Status and Map pages. The Status capture has a CF column, but no frequency values in it; no L1 or L5

You are comparing two head units and each seller treats its touchscreen type as the obvious winner. If that sounds familiar, this post answers one practical question: the practical differences and what matters for real in-car use. You do not need to memorize the jargon; you need a reliable way to judge and check. The short answer Choose by touch behavior, glove use, display construction, durability and your actual needs—not by a premium label. Why this is easy to misread Resistive

Seeing “MediaTek” on a head-unit listing can make the choice look easy. It is not.My short answer: do not choose a unit from the MediaTek name alone. Start with what you need the unit to do every day, then check the exact platform, the complete unit, and how it fits your car.The label does not settle the navigation or phone-connection setup, audio, storage, or vehicle integration you will actually get.<img src="https://bbs.cdn.carmate.cc/bbs/2026-09-07/1d

You're comparing Android head units with 32GB, 64GB or 128GB of storage. It's tempting to pick the biggest one and be done with it.If your phone handles navigation and music through CarPlay or Android Auto, I wouldn't pay for extra head-unit storage just to make room for files already on the phone. If you want apps, offline maps and a music collection stored on the head unit itself, extra space has a much clearer purpose.Start with what you'll save on the

A door looks open in the 360° view: why the 3D model is not the final answer Some 360° camera interfaces show an open door in three places at once: the live image, the top-down car graphic and the 3D model. When all three agree, it is easy to identify the side. But what if they do not? Trust the physical door and the vehicle's original instrument display first. The 360° interface is a useful visual aid, not the sole confirmation that a door is closed. What each view contributes The live

Where does a 360° camera system store recordings? Check these rules before you need a clip After a scrape or parking incident, you may open the 360° camera app expecting to find one continuous video. On the system documented in the owner's knowledge base, that is not how storage works. The practical answer: this setup writes four-channel recordings to USB0 in three-minute TS files. When space runs low, it removes the oldest unlocked recordings first. If a clip matters, copy the surrounding f

New head unit? Check these four things before fitting it Before connecting power, compare four things with your order: the model and configuration, the screen and casing, the supplied parts, and the connectors. If something is wrong or missing, sort that out while the unit is still on the table—not after the dashboard is apart. It's tempting to plug in a new screen straight away. But a useful first look needs no wiring at all. Lay the contents out, open the order details, and work throug

If you are happy to share your phone's connection, a head unit that connects to its Wi-Fi hotspot is a sensible starting point. If you want the head unit online without depending on the phone, choose a suitable built-in mobile-data setup. Start with that preference, not the number of connection logos in the listing. For example, you may want online music and live navigation information but be quite happy to bring the phone along. Or you may prefer the head unit to have its own connection. N
